Long Life Fitness offers three, six-hour courses using principles of exercise physiology and yoga, to help those with specific goals: learning the fundamentals of yoga; overcoming strength and flexibility obstacles; or integrating the physical and mental aspects of your fitness regime.

At your first session, we’ll begin your yoga session with supplemental exercises, yoga postures, breath control, and meditation designed to address your weaknesses, inflexibility, stresses, and imbalances, in order to make progress towards your goals. Subsequent sessions begin with a discussion of your weekly progress and issues and end with fitness planning for the week ahead. You must commit 30 to 60 minutes a day of homework to make progress from where you are now to where you want to be. You will make safe and rapid progress.

Level I: Yoga Basics

This program is for those completely new to yoga. If you want to begin a home yoga practice, this program gives you the skills and knowledge you need to feel comfortable practicing safely on your own. Or, if you want to attend a class at a studio, but feel too intimidated, after these six hours you’ll know what to expect in a studio class. You’ll learn postures, breathing, meditation, along with locks and gestures. Strength and flexibility ensues. Any questions you have are answered.

Level II: Overcoming Obstacles

This program is for athletes or non-athletes, yoga practitioners or not. If you find yourself hindered in your sport or yoga practice by morning stiffness, chronic joint pain, or tight hamstrings, this program teaches you the yoga strengthening postures and stretching techniques to help you liberate your strength and energy by returning your body to a more youthful level of flexibility, without injury. Gain more strength, pain-free range of motion, and freedom of mobility. Techniques used include isometric/isotonic contractions, PNF, HIIT, and others.

Level III: In the Zone

Take yourself to the next level. This program is for anyone desiring to develop mastery of a physical practice, such as yoga or another sport. Using yoga postures, breath control, and meditation, you’ll develop the physical and mental skills to perform yoga or your sport in “the zone,” or flow state, more consistently. Learn postures to bring your body into balance. Learn to relax and concentrate, to use your mind to your advantage with visualization and positive self talk, and to incorporate positive rituals into your daily practice. Perfect for the senior athlete.

Little by little, I began to notice changes, especially in my upper-body strength and flexibility in my hands and wrists.

Reiki is a Japanese method of holistic, hands-on healing, founded by Usui Mikao in the early 20th Century. Reiki means universal energy. Leslie Snow completed her Reiki masters training and apprenticeship under Lorry Salluzzi Sensei, and offers healing sessions in her home studio in the beautiful Catskills, or at your home or business. Each session lasts from 40 to 60 minutes, with three sessions recommended for a healing. Reiki is an excellent complement to traditional Western medicine and a yoga practice.

Benefits of Reiki treatment include, but are not limited to the following:

  • relaxes and reduces stress

  • relieves pain

  • balances the endocrine and other organ systems of the body

  • treats the symptoms and the causes of illness

  • strengthens the immune system

  • promotes creativity

  • releases blocked and suppressed feelings

As a Reiki master, Leslie can teach you or your group all levels of this system of natural healing. Please contact Leslie for more information.

Martial artists have traditionally learned and used hands-on healing in order to heal injuries sustained in sparring and battles. Coming soon: Reiki training specifically for martial artists.
